McGregor opened three of 14 contests in 2022, registering 16 tackles with 5 for loss, including 2.5 sacks, along with 2 pass breakups. He had a sack against Michigan State and a pair of pass breakups in a win over Ohio State. The Wolverines won the Big Ten and finished 13-1 with a loss to TCU in the College Football Playoff semifinal.
The Port Huron, Mich., native was a reserve on the Michigan defense in 2021, when he appeared in nine contests. He made 5 tackles, including 1 for loss, while playing special teams and defense. That was McGregor’s first healthy season after suffering a gruesome knee injury as a senior in high school. He’s since admitted that it was a grueling process to not only get healthy but regain confidence, but it ended with him being a standout on the Wolverines’ defense over the last two seasons.
McGregor did not see game action in 2020 as he rehabbed. He enrolled early to Michigan that January. A four-star recruit, McGregor was the No. 121 overall player in the 2020 class.
