Four more Michigan football players take the field on Saturday in Indianapolis at the 2022 NFL Combine, headlined by pass rushers Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo. Both are expected to be first-round picks in the class and have a chance to hammer that home with a strong day of testing.

Defensive tackle Chris Hinton and linebacker Josh Ross will also be going through measurements and workouts on Saturday. Sunday’s round of tests will have the final two Michigan players – defensive backs Dax Hill and Vincent Gray – finishing the group’s work in Indianapolis.

Live Updates: Michigan At NFL Draft Scouting Combine

9:29 p.m. – Hutchinson’s day came into focus later on, posting a 93 athleticism score from the NFL’s Next Gen Stats. His 3-cone time was the fastest from a player his size since 2003.

8:48 p.m. – Ross moved onto the broad jump, where he wound up leaping 9’1″ in the event.

8:03 p.m. – Linebackers were up and Michigan’s Josh Ross ran an unofficial 4.81 40-yard dash on his first attempt. His second try saw him run a 4.87 at 8:26 p.m.

7:06 p.m. – Hutchinson had a vertical jump number of 36 inches,

6:40 p.m. – Hinton posted a broad jump number of 8’10”.

6:11 p.m. – Ojabo’s second 40-yard attempt saw him run a 4.60 for the second consecutive time and a 1.65 split time.

6:10 p.m. – Hutchinson’s second attempt at the 40-yard dash was slightly less than his first, posting an unofficial 4.78 time and 10-yard split at 1.62.

6:00 p.m. – Ojabo followed his peer by running a 4.60 40-yard dash and a 1.64 10-yard split.

5:58 p.m. – Hutchinson was the first of the Michigan pass rushers to run his 40-yard dash, clocking in at an unofficial 4.75. His 10-yard split was a 1.62.

5:18 p.m. — Ojabo’s broad jump came in shortly after Hutchinson’s with a 10’2” measurement.

5:11 p.m. — Hutchinson’s first workout of the day has been logged, posting a 9’9” broad jump.

4:09 p.m. — Michigan defensive tackle Chris Hinton ran his first 40-yard dash attempt, running a 5.27 and 1.74 10-yard split.

10:10 a.m. – Measurements took place on Saturday morning for the three Michigan defensive line prospects.

David Ojabo6-4250 pounds33 1/2″9″

Hutchinson came in at 32 1/8, which is below average for most NFL pass rushers. Front offices will ultimately need to determine if that is a dealbreaker or not. It should not to a ton, if anything, to his stock if he tests well in other areas. Former Michigan EDGE rusher Brandon Graham measured in at 32 1/4″ and has had a productive NFL career, so these measurements never tell the whole story.

More from Wolverine prospects

Hutchinson seems like a lock to come off the board before the end of the top three picks. Saturday provides an opportunity to put his numbers up against Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux, one of the players that is right there with him at the top of the EDGE board. Most scouts believe that Hutchinson is the safer of the two picks, but Thibodeaux has been mentioned as having a higher ceiling. That debate cannot be sorted out in these workouts, but it will be interesting to see how they stack up against each other.

“I think he would agree, I don’t think there’s any comparison,” Hutchinson said.

However, neither player wants to be compared to the other.

“I feel like we’ll fit in two different systems,” Thibodeaux said. “I’m just trying to be the best me I can be. I don’t really look to compare myself to anybody. I know that what God has in store for me, no man can take away.”

For Ojabo, the challenge this week is proving to teams that he is not just a one-year wonder.

“They’re all trying to get to know me, trying to get to know who I am as a player,” Ojabo said. “I was first on the scene last year, so they’re just trying to figure out who David Ojabo is.”

“I had a dream and I knew I was going to make it somehow.”

These dreams continue on Saturday when the four Wolverines show their talents in Indianapolis.
