ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Wolverines moved to 4-1 on the season with a 24-10 win over Wisconsin on Saturday in Ann Arbor, improving their mark to 2-0 in Big Ten play.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome and former Michigan defensive lineman Ryan Van Bergen broke down the victory from Blue Lion Fitness in Ann Arbor.

”I probably am more optimistic than a lot of people coming away from this game,” Van Bergen said on the show. “I thought we played a conservative game that allowed us to maintain control. I didn’t think, statistically, you may have seen at halftime that we were dominating the way we were if you were in person, but it seemed like we were a more physical team, and this was gonna be something that if we leaned and continued to lean, eventually Wisconsin was going to break.

“I thought they executed the game plan well. I thought defensively, again, aside from that first series, I mean, they were a wet blanket and Wisconsin couldn’t get anything going against us.”

Broome replied: “I think a lot of the concerns that people may have had in real time throughout this game, you can kind of go back through the box score [and debunk]. The passing game, look at all the drops, look at all the missed opportunities on the field. Bryce Underwood still completes almost 70% of his path. The offensive line not getting maybe as much push as you’d like to see. Well, they ran for 175 yards. Justice Haynes ran for a hundred plus yards again for the fifth game in a row. He was the first Wolverine to do a hundred more yards in his first four games of the program. At wide receiver, you come out of this game where Donovan McCulley has 6 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Marsh gets to start today. Four catches for 80 yards. He looks like one you can rely on, or at least better than what you have.

“I think you could probably go back and rewatch this and find four or five plays where if you hit on that, this is probably a blowout situation.”
