Topics covered include:
• Takeaways from Michigan’s spring game — We know quite a bit about the Wolverines’ football team after last season’s Big Ten title and College Football playoff appearance, but there’s some unknowns as well. Specifically, the defense lost a lot of production and has a big task ahead of it. But there were plenty of veterans who had lesser roles in the past and young player who are looking to crack the rotation for the first time that really stepped up this spring, which are the sources for a significant amount of optimism. The hosts discuss Michigan position groups that they feel better about now than they did before spring ball and much more.

• The quarterback battle — No, it’s not too early to talk about this. Cade McNamara gained on J.J. McCarthy this spring, but McCarthy was hurt and not full-go in practice. Now that he’s getting healthier, McCarthy is reportedly close to being back at full strength, and that means the quarterback competition is officially close to being on for Michigan. As Jim Harbaugh says, quarterback is a spot that a player can improve at during the summer, not needing many other guys or tools to get reps in, and that will be the case for both guys who fully intend on winning the job. What does McCarthy have to do to pass McNamara? We discuss that and more.
• The legacy of Brandon Johns Jr. — The East Lansing native had some ups and downs during his Michigan career. He never fully put together what many thought his potential was. But he also dealt with a lot, including a coaching change and a situation in which he had to wait his turn behind great players like Isaiah Livers. This doesn’t open a scholarship spot, but does it mean anything regarding the upcoming NBA decisions of fellow Michigan frontcourt players Hunter Dickinson and Moussa Diabate? We discuss that possibility and more.
