The Wolverine flew to Burley, Idaho, earlier this week to meet with the highest-ranked 2024 prospect in the Potato State in On300 four-star wide receiver and Michigan target Gatlin Bair.

Bair, who’s lauded for his dynamic speed on the football field and track, will be graduating early this December and transition right into his planned two-year mission trip with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The rising junior will be officially enrolled in college during the winter semester of 2026.

With an offer sheet that includes Utah, Oklahoma State, Boise State, BYU, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, Mississippi State, Texas, and Nebraska, Bair is also hearing often from Michigan. Safeties coach Jay Harbaugh, who was the primary recruiter for Colston Loveland – another Idaho native and former No. 1 ranked in-stater – and director of recruiting operations Albert Karschnia were both recently at Burley High for visits.

Wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy is also expected to arrive at the school during the spring evaluation period.

The connection with Bair and Loveland is not restricted to their Idaho roots. Bair’s head coach, Cameron Andersen, was the head of Loveland at Gooding High before taking over the Burley vacancy in the winter of last year. Bair will look to schedule official visits in the late-spring and early-summer, once the track season concludes, with Michigan among those being highly considered.

At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Bair is ranked as the No. 14 wide receiver nationally, No. 1 junior in the state of Idaho, and the No. 119 overall player in the country, per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Bair has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6.2 with 1,600 followers on Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Michigan currently has six verbal commitments in its 2024 recruiting class, including three who’ve joined the fray in the past two months. In-state On300 defensive back Jacob Oden pledged Thursday. Rounding the class are four-star defensive lineman Ted Hammond, On300 tight end Hogan Hansen, On300 interior offensive lineman Luke Hamilton, On300 linebacker Mason Curtis, and three-star defensive lineman Manuel Beigel
