First, some intel on Georgia from the Dawgs On3 writer Palmer Thombs …

Georgia has its own quarterback issue with Stetson Bennett having taken over for J.T. Daniels. A portion of the fan base is clamoring for Daniels, but head coach Kirby Smart continues to stick with Bennett

The starter struggled against Alabama with two interceptions. If it’s up to him to win the game, Thombs said, the Bulldogs could be in trouble.

“It’s an interesting dilemma,” he said. “I think a lot of people see J.T. and think he can step in immediately and take back over this team, but I don’t know that we’re necessarily going to see that. What has transpired this year with Bennett taking over and leading this team to places it really hasn’t been since the 1980s in terms of going undefeated in the regular season ..l I think they could have done that with J.T., too, but both the floor and ceiling are probably higher with Daniels at quarterback.”

Sound familiar, Michigan fans? It should. In fact, it reminds you of the Michigan fan base with Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy.

But don’t expect Smart to make a change, with one exception. He’ll absolutely turn to Daniels if he outperforms Bennett in practice.

“He’s a huge proponent of practices matter. They really want to preach that the competition in practice is what’s going to decide how things play out in terms of playing time.

“But it’s something we’re not seeing, so the question is, what’s Stetson Bennett doing in practice that’s diff than what he’s doing in games? He was put in bad spots … he did not play well against ‘Bama. They didn’t lose because of him.

“But he takes what’s given to him. I think that’s best demonstrated in Stetson’s first start this season, UAB. He threw for five touchdowns in first half. That’s what the defense gave them.
