Newsstand: Kickoff time set for Illinois game

Michigan football is 10-0 for the first time since the 2006 season, continuing to set up a massive showdown with the Ohio State Buckeyes on Nov. 26. One game remains before the Wolverines and Buckeyes do battle on the field with the Illinois Fighting Illini coming to Ann Arbor next weekend.
Michigan and Illinois has been installed as a 12 p.m. ET kick from Michigan Stadium and will be broadcast via ABC, it was announced late Saturday night. Illinois had been in the driver’s seat to win the Big Ten West, but lost its 2nd consecutive game on Saturday, this time to Purdue. It should still be a chance at another resume win for a Michigan team doing all it can to create its claim for a College Football Playoff berth.

The Illini have been well ahead of schedule under Bret Bielema, who took over the program last year. They play a physical brand of football that mirrors what Michigan does in a lot of ways, so it will be a test ahead of the Nov. 26 showdown at OSU. One thing to keep an eye on will be Illini running back Chase Brown. The star suffered an ankle injury in the loss to Purdue and is the heartbeat of their offense.

Michigan football quote of the day
“Blake, another great game by him. I think he rushed for about 140 yards but there wasn’t a long one — you know, there wasn’t a 50-yarder today like there has been. Just really good, tough running. It was important to them — so much hard work has gone into the team being undefeated. So many guys have just done so much, worked so hard. Some guys have been banged up along the way and so a lot of hard work has gone in, and want to keep it going. It was important for them to keep this undefeated streak going.”
