Popular NFL video game Madden ’23 will release Aug. 17, with namesake and late legendary coach and broadcaster John Madden on the cover. Ahead of the drop, EA Sports has revealed player ratings, including for former Michigan Wolverines football standouts.

It’s no surprise that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, widely viewed as the best football player of all time, tops the list of Wolverines with a 97 overall. The 45-year-old is actually the highest-rated quarterback in the game, too, despite the fact that the former Michigan signal-caller is entering his 23rd NFL season. Just eight players, regardless of position, rank ahead of him.

He’s one of five former Wolverines who hold a grade of 80 or better.

The edge rushers highlight the Michigan contingent, with five from that position making up Michigan’s 11 highest-graded players. Green Bay Packers defensive end Rashan Gary is the 17th-highest graded edge defender with an 89 overall score. Philadelphia Eagles EDGE Brandon Graham is still an 80 overall despite missing last season with an injury. At 77 overall, rookie and Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan’s highest-drafted defender in history at No. 2 overall, is one point higher than Jacksonville Jaguars rookie and No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker (76).

Here’s a look at how former Michigan players are rated.
