Wolverine TV podcast: Postgame reactions from 52-7 rout of Indiana

The Michigan Wolverines moved to 7-0 on the season with a 52-7 dismantling of the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor. It was a slow start on a rainy, cold day in Ann Arbor, but the elements were able to be pushed through in U-M’s most lopsided victory of the 2023 season.
The Wolverine’s Anthony Broome and former Michigan defensive lineman Ryan Van Bergen discussed the victory after it went final, where Van Bergen believes we saw Michigan show us who they really were after a terrible start to the game.
“There was an opportunity to get into a battle with this team, and I feel like the maturity and the veteran experience of this team took over after the first quarter,” Van Bergen said. “I think we were a little lethargic and slow to start and just didn’t seem like we were checked into the game.
“Noon game, cold weather, favored by 33 points again. Not to say that there’s ever any excuses to start a game slow, but the recipe was there and then to see how they handled business following that goose egg of a first quarter, I feel like that’s the team. We know that’s the team that we’re excited about for this year.
“And it’s not even, I would say, slightly concerning that you come in and sleepwalk in this game, but it was bound to happen. I feel like the way this team responded and played three quarters of football following that first quarter was the Michigan team we’re excited about this year.”
