Newsstand: Santa Ono tweets in support of Michigan football 'Team 144'
Tweets Of The Day
After the Big Ten suspended Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh, university president Santa Ono tweeted in support of his employee — one of many to do so, both with U-M ties and without. Many came to the defense of Harbaugh, who was punished by the Big Ten despite the league and the NCAA not having evidence of him or other on-field coaches engaging in wrongdoing linked to the alleged off-campus, in-person scouting allegations.
Harbaugh made the trip with his team to State College for Saturday’s game against Penn State (noon ET on FOX). He received the news of his suspension upon arrival. Michigan quickly filed a court motion for a temporary restraining order that, if granted, will allow him to continue to coach.
After arriving in State College, Michigan players took to social media with one simple word, an acknowledgement of the situation with: “Bet.”
Former Michigan quarterback and NFL legend Tom Brady also chimed in with his own “bet” tweet.
Michigan Wolverines basketball led by 43 points with 3:23 left, didn’t score in the final 2:56 of the game … and still beat down Youngstown State, 92-62, in the second game of the season Friday night at Crisler Center. The Maize and Blue are now 2-0, after an impressive, 99-74 victory over UNC Asheville to open the campaign on Tuesday.
Michigan is up to No. 34 on Kenpom, with the No. 21 most efficient offense in the country and 47th-best defense. That overall rank checks in sixth in the Big Ten.

Michigan played 13 different student-athletes. Eight different players scored. Four were in double figures. It was a good night for the Maize and Blue, who are set to take on St. John’s Monday night at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York.
Michigan Quote Of The Day
“I think he can play at a program like that. These are conversations we’ve had. We talked about the blue bloods and traditional powerhouses. He was under recruited early on, and now, to have a program like Michigan reach out and say they want him and believe in him, that’s a great opportunity to go in and continue building what they have been building the last couple of years. In the last couple of years, Coach (Jim) Harbaugh has really figured it out. I think it would be a good deal for him.”
