The Michigan Wolverines did not play a game on Saturday afternoon but still were the talk of the college football world as more information drips out on the NCAA investigation into illegal sign stealing. Every day has its share of developments and twists.

At this point, the allegations are well-known. Michigan staffer Connor Stalions, who is currently suspended with pay, is accused of being the point man in an illegal scouting operation that saw him paying interns and others to attend games of Michigan opponents and film the sidelines to decode their signs.

A story in the Washington Post last week stated that an independent firm handed over findings of potential wrongdoing to the NCAA, which had led to several questions about who that firm is and who hired them. It has been made public that the FBI’s investigation into computer crimes by former Michigan coach Matt Weiss is unrelated to U-M’s current situation, so that can seemingly be ruled out.

But the buzz from our Chris Balas said that information on the firm’s identity was “fascinating” and social media was ablaze on Saturday night speculating that the firm could have ties to Ryan Day and Ohio State, which would add another layer to this wild and developing story.

None of that would likely exonerate Michigan from potential NCAA punishment, and it may not even be true. Whatever it is, plenty of people are still confused about what the heck is going on.

On a Sunday morning live stream, TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome answered questions on the matter and discussed what happens next for Michigan with all of the rumors and another NCAA investigation swirling around.
