Newsstand: Frozen Four field set with Michigan Hockey included

Michigan Hockey is on to the 2022 Frozen Four after a 7-3 victory over Quinnipiac on Sunday evening. That means the top four offenses in college hockey will be duking it out for a national title.
Michigan joined Minnesota, Minnesota State and Denver in the field with their Sunday victory. The Wolverines will play Denver at 5 p.m. ET on April 7 with Minnesota State playing Minnesota at 8:30.
Denver leads in the nation in scoring at 4.28 goals per game. Minnesota State (4.1), Michigan (4.02) and Minnesota (3.61) round out the top four.
The Frozen Four is the first time since 2017 that three of the top regional seeds made the Frozen Four. It is just the second time in the last 19 tournaments with 16 teams that there have been three No. 1s and a No. 2 seed (Minnesota).

The trip to Boston is one that Michigan hopes can be magical for it. The Wolverines’ last national title came in the city in 1998. They are the first No. 1 overall seed to advance to the Frozen Four since Denver pulled it off in 2017.

Michigan quote of the day
“Personally, I’d like to go back to campus sites. I mean some sites, when you look at some of the teams and the crowds that have been in those buildings, I think it’s a great experience for the student athletes and that’s what you’re looking for. It’s unfortunate. I’m looking around the games and seeing the crowds, and it is what I told you before. That’s way above my paygrade, so that’s Josh Richelieu and the board and some other people, but hopefully we can come to some consensus and get back on campus.
“Our women’s basketball team just had their regionals. That was great. I think we have to really look at that and what’s best and in the best interest. We went into Minnesota last weekend. We had to go into Minnesota and we had to win a game to win a championship and move on and we did. They had their largest crowd ever in the history of Mariucci 3M arena, and it was awesome. Our players loved it. Now we won, but still, the atmosphere was incredible. I think we have to take a real hard look at it.”
