Newsstand: Jim Harbaugh wants Los Angeles Chargers to become 'Michigan West'

Tweets Of The Day
Head coach Jim Harbaugh met with his Michigan team one last time before officially departing to be the next head man of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers. He told the Wolverines that the Chargers will be “Michigan West.” Much more intel from the meeting and next steps for U-M can be found here.
Michigan sophomore tight end Colston Loveland had an extremely productive season in 2023, hauling in 45 receptions for 649 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Harbaugh discussed with The Detroit News his decision to move on from Michigan.
“Coaching here has been the love of my life outside of the family,” Harbaugh told The Detroit News.
Yet he chose to move on to the Chargers, where he also once played (1999-2000), saying he loves both Michigan and the NFL, but he noted that “it’s not goodbye” to U-M. The Wolverines won three Big Ten championships and the 2023 national title, and as a former player and the son of former U-M assistant Jack Harbaugh, Harbaugh has long been a Michigan legend. Reunions for the championship squads will surely be held in the future.
“One thing I hope for is that Michigan and the Chargers will be like one team,” Harbaugh said. “These are lasting, trusting relationships.”
The coach added that he was “torn” on whether or not to head back to the NFL and that he felt “wanted” at Michigan.

Michigan hired Sherrone Moore as head coach Friday evening, with the press conference coming Saturday morning, and that was Harbaugh’s pick. He told The Detroit News that there is “not a better man to coach the team than Sherrone Moore. He has my vote, my support wholeheartedly. I feel like it’s in great hands.”
Ari Wasserman of The Athletic penned a column on how Michigan haters should be quiet after the Wolverines won the 2023 national championship.
Quote Of The Day
“I mean, because he’s a Michigan man. He’s been in the program for a long time, he’s been a great O.C. and he has top-10 wins under his belt already as a head coach. So, I think he’s shown that he’s the guy for the job. He’s learned under Coach Harbaugh, and like I said, he’s already had experience being a head coach when Coach Harbaugh was suspended. So, I think Coach Moore is definitely the man for the job. “I think we go in-house with this one and keep the culture going down in Michigan and make sure everyone’s on the same page. Coach Moore would make a great head coach, and I think he is the guy. I think we all know that. Obviously, we have to wait seven days before they can name a head coach, but he’s the guy.”
