Michigan lands commitment from On300 EDGE Enow Etta

Michigan has landed a big commitment from On300 EDGE Enow Etta.
The Colleyville (Texas) Covenant product announced his commitment to the Wolverines via Twitter on Monday. He chose Michigan over Michigan State, Stanford, Alabama, USC and numerous others.
“Michigan really has the best of both worlds,” Etta said. “I want to do engineering and computer science. I believe they are the No. 7 engineering school in the country. On the football side, they just won the Big Ten championship last year. The football is a no-brainer. The academics are big. I don’t really see that anywhere else.”
Michigan offered Etta in January and immediately made him a priority on the EDGE board, with new defensive line coach Mike Elston leading the way.
“(Elston’s) track record seems really respectable,” Etta said. “I watched film with him and seeing the things he did at Notre Dame and the way he coaches, I think he would definitely be a good coach for me. Some of these colleges have coaches, but you don’t get developed. I think he can actually develop me.”
As a freshman, Etta, who was brand new to playing football, had three sacks. Over the next two seasons, Etta registered 39.5 sacks. In his 30-game career, he has also come up with 214 tackles, 154 of which were solo, 57.5 tackles-for-loss, 36 quarterback hurries, and 10 pass deflections.
Etta is the second EDGE prospect to commit to Michigan in the 2023 recruiting class, joining four-star Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) High prospect Collin Acheampong. Etta is the 11th commitment overall. Michigan entered the day with the No. 30 recruiting class nationally and is slated to move up with the addition of Etta.
