Podcast: Where Michigan stands with Top 100 WR Quincy Porter ahead of weekend official visit

Analysts EJ Holland and Zach Libby discuss Michigan landing a commitment from four-star Palatine (Ill.) High EDGE Jaylen Williams on Monday, recap all five targets who were in Ann Arbor for official visits last weekend and look ahead to the seven prospects locked in for officials to campus in a few days, including Top 100 Oradell (N.J.) wide receiver Quincy Porter, on The Wolverine Live Tuesday Recruiting Show.

Porter Recruitment
Porter’s upcoming official visit to Michigan will be his fourth return after last checking out the reigning College Football Playoff winners in April during spring camp practice. Wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, area recruiter Grant Newsome, and head coach Sherrone Moore are prioritizing Porter as a deep threat weapon.
Michigan holds a slight lead for Porter on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with Ohio State not too far behind. The Buckeyes welcomed Porter for an official visit this past weekend.
Here’s what Holland had to say about Porter.
“I’ve talked a ton about how much I love Quincy as a prospect,” Holland said. “I have him graded as a five-star, and he would fill such a massive need for Michigan as a bigger-bodied outside receiver…He could be an immediate difference maker at a place like Michigan. He could come in and potentially start as a true freshman.”
Holland also went in-depth on where Michigan stands for Porter.
“I think he’s the biggest target left on the offensive side of the ball, and that’s why he’s the most important visitor coming in this weekend,” Holland said. “On top of that, Michigan is battling rival Ohio State, so you don’t want another big-time receiver going over to Columbus. Now, I think that Ohio State did a really nice job over the weekend. If I had to pick a leader for Porter right now, it would probably be Ohio State. I think they did build some momentum there…(But) the need for Porter, the opportunity and pathway for playing time, I think, is greater at Michigan. That’s certainly going to be a big pitch to him throughout the weekend.”
