Michigan infielder Mitch Voit has been selected by the New York Mets with the No. 38 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft.

More from MGoBlue.com:
Voit is Michigan’s first draft pick since Connor O’Halloran was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2023 draft. Voit represents the Wolverines’ earliest selection since David Parrish in 2000 when the New York Yankees selected him with the 28th overall pick. Voit becomes the seventh first-round pick in program history.

Voit spent three seasons at Michigan, playing in 169 games with 163 starts and saw action at every position except catcher. He complied a .303/.398/.564 slash line over his three seasons and finished among the top 10 in program history in total bases and home runs. Voit finished his Michigan career with 46 doubles, seven triples and 35 home runs while drawing 81 walks.

He also appeared in 29 games on the mound across his first two seasons, compiling a 9-4 record with five saves and a complete game against UCLA on March 1, 2024. He struck out 66 batters while walking just 28 and held a 4.67 earned-run average.

Michigan is the first school ever to have a first-round selection in each of the same year in the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB, after Voit was picked.

A highlight from former Michigan forward/center Danny Wolf in the NBA Summer League.

Michigan sophomore forward Morez Johnson Jr. is holding a school supply drive in his hometown of Riverdale, Ill., on August 10.

Quote Of The Day

“Hopefully, I’m here at Michigan for a long time, so I probably will be up here with an optimistic outlook every year going into the season. We get to choose our players, so hopefully we don’t choose players that we don’t like or we don’t believe in or want to coach.”
