Michigan baseball disappointed with two losses in the Big Ten Tournament — to Illinois (extra innings) and UCLA — and is now awaiting its NCAA Tournament fate. The Wolverines don’t have a good chance of landing in the field, however, with Baseball America not projecting them as one of the 64 teams in their Friday update.

In fact, Michigan wasn’t even in the first four out or next four out. Here are the bubble teams according to Baseball America’s bracketology:

Last Four In

Xavier (Big East)
Troy (Sun Belt)
UTRGV (Southland)
Virginia (ACC)

First Four Out

Connecticut (Big East)
Western Kentucky (CUSA)
Notre Dame (ACC)
Cal Poly (Big West)

Next Four Out

Hawaii (Big West)
Texas A&M (SEC)
Charlotte (American)
Southeastern Louisiana (Southland)

Michigan football is one of 10 teams in the FBS that will not play an FCS team this season. In addition to the Wolverines’ nine-game Big Ten schedule, they will take on New Mexico Aug. 30, Oklahoma Sept. 6 and Central Michigan Sept. 13.

Michigan hockey had 31 players in the NHL in 2024-25 — more than any other college institution.

Quote Of The Day

“It’s tempting to look at these rosters after the national title and define them by what they lose to the draft every year, but we don’t do that with [Kirby] Smart or [Nick] Saban or those programs. Michigan is an elite-level recruiting program. So yeah, they lost a Mason Graham, but they’re ready to plug in that next guy. It’s not plug and play, but it’s close.”
