Newsstand: Dusty May, Michigan basketball staff at Detroit Lions practice

Tweets Of The Day
Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May and assistants Mike Boynton Jr. and Akeem Miskdeen were spotted with former U-M standout and current Detroit Piston Duncan Robinson at Detroit Lions practice Thursday. May was photographed by Brad Galli of WXYZ dapping up former Michigan wide receiver Nico Collins, whose Houston Texans were participating in joint practice with the Lions ahead of this weekend’s preseason game.
U-M has announced its captains for the 146th version of Michigan Wolverines football, which will begin the 2025 season Aug. 30 against New Mexico. The team leaders were elected by a player vote.
Michigan’s captains are graduate tight end/fullback Max Bredeson, graduate safety Rod Moore, graduate offensive lineman Giovanni El-Hadi, senior linebacker Ernest Hausmann, senior EDGE Derrick Moore and senior tight end Marlin Klein.
Bredeson and Moore are both returning captains, having been elected ahead of the 2024 season. Last season, they served in the role along with running back Donovan Edwards, defensive back Makari Paige and EDGE Josaiah Stewart, all of whom are on NFL rosters.
Bredeson and Moore are two of nine two-time captains for Michigan football since 2015. The most recent before them was defensive back Mike Sainristil from 2022-23.

Max Bredeson joins his older brother, former Michigan offensive lineman Ben Bredeson as a two-time captain. Ben was a captain from 2018-19, his junior and senior seasons, before entering the NFL Draft. He’s currently a starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It looks like Michigan’s captains will wear a ‘C’ match on their jerseys this year.
Quote Of The Day
“A lot of great things, like obviously getting to see him play football. It’s cool to see that stuff. But like the way he talks to people, the way he interacts in the building, I think that’s really special.”
