The hosts were asked which Michigan player will lead the team in interceptions — and both Sayfie and Balas had the same answer. Graduate safety Rod Moore is the pick if he’s healthy all year, but junior cornerback Jyaire Hill has a shot either way.

“I would say Rod Moore if I was very confident that he’s gonna play the entire way,” Sayfie said. “I’m not exactly sure. He led the team in interceptions a couple years ago, was able to keep that pair of turnover buffs that … Will Johnson’s got enough money now to fund them every year. I hope he does.

“I guess I’m gonna go — if I had to pick one guy — with Jyaire Hill. I just think he has maybe a little more of that juice, in terms of playmaking. We saw it with some really big plays — the Minnesota game, he had a nice pick. He’s got that athletic upside, I think, a little bit more than some of those other DBs, and I’d be hard pressed to pick a safety other than Rod Moore.”

“I think if Rod Moore is healthy from the get-go, I would go with him,” Balas said of Michigan’s DB. “But Jyaire Hill — I think he’ll get a lot more opportunities, too. I think a lot of opponents are gonna test him, right? How many stop and go moves or double moves has he gotten beaten on? And he’s gotten better, but people are gonna test him, and he’s got the athletic ability to adjust and really make plays — and we’ve seen that. Hopefully, they get the best out of him. That kid has all the talent in the world. If he can put it together, he has the chance to be a really, really good corner here.”

The Michigan podcast hosts answered questions just like that one throughout the show, also predicting the sacks leader and more. Watch or listen to the full podcast in the embeds above.
