Newsstand: Michigan basketball has 'more upside' with one of best frontcourts in nation

Tweets Of The Day
CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein broke down Michigan as one of his favorite teams in the sport this coming season.
“And Michigan is going to be bigger than most teams in college basketball, because in my opinion, the Wolverines have the deepest and, potentially, most potent front line in the sport, with veteran Will Tschetter, UCLA transfer Aday Mara at 7-3, Morez Johnson, a transfer from Illinois, and Yaxel Lendeborg from UAB,” Rothstein said on his podcast. “Those four players are going to be, in my opinion, the deepest and potentially most productive front line in the sport.
“And Dusty May was also able to retain, in addition to Will Tschetter, Roddy Gayle, Nimari Burnett, a burdgeoning glue guy in the sport, and also L.J. Cason, who I think can make a big jump this season as a reserve. And then North Carolina transfer Elliot Cadeau will take over at point guard.
“Michigan has more upside than it did a year ago.”
Former Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner and All-American tight end Jake Butt discusses if it’s time to panic for the Wolverines coming off the 24-13 loss to Oklahoma last weekend. Gardner mentioned the fact that U-M played a freshman quarterback at Oklahoma, and that it’s a tough spot to be in for someone so young. Butt pointed out that it wasn’t just Underwood’s struggles that plagued Michigan.
Former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy and his fiancée were preparing to welcome a baby boy Thursday, according to Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.

Quote Of The Day
“A lot of coaches that I have talked to, it’s a lot of glitz and glam, but he seems real. I’m trying to get the pureness out of these conversations with certain coaches, and I definitely have gotten that feeling from Coach Morgan— that everything that he speaks about is not just a recruitment tool. He’s being truthful about how they like Myles and their expectations that they have for Myles.”
— Mike Baker, the father of Rivals300 safety Myles Baker, on Michigan defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator LaMar Morgan
