Michigan forward Oscar Goodman suffered a sprained right ankle in the first quarter of New Zealand’s bronze medal game at the FIBA U19 World Cup. Goodman limped off under his own power but did not return to the game.

Here’s the video of Goodman’s injury.

Michigan junior center Aday Mara — a UCLA transfer — was in Spain working on getting to Ann Arbor with a student visa, and it appears that process is complete. Mara, a 7-foot-3, 240-pounder, posted a photo at Crisler Center on his Instagram story.

Michigan sophomore forward Morez Johnson Jr. scored 15 points and hauled down 10 rebounds in a win over Germany to win Team USA the gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup.

The USA defeated Germany, 109-76, in Sunday’s gold medal game. Johnson recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 5-of-6 from the field and 5-of-5 at the free throw line.

Johnson was also part of the USA team that won gold at the 2024 FIBA U19 Americas Championship.

The 6-foot-9, 255-pounder played in all seven games, averaging 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 18.5 minutes. He posted a pair of double-doubles — against Australia (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Germany (15 points, 10 rebounds).

Michigan women’s basketball standout Syla Swords posted 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists — making the game-winning shot — in a double-overtime win for Team Canada to finish in third place at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. She hit 5 threes to highlight her performance, but no shot was bigger than her game-winning layup in double overtime.

Former Michigan basketball center Jon Teske and his wife are expecting a baby in 2026.

Quote Of The Day

“With Andre Clarke, you have to start with the ball skills,” Power said. “I love that he plays both ways. I believe he had nine receiving touchdowns last year and three interceptions. The two-way ball production tends to be a good indicator. That bodes well for Andre Clarke. I like that he can cover ground and has good anticipation and instincts in coverage.”
