Michigan Wolverines basketball opens the 2023-24 season Nov. 7 against UNC Asheville. Prior to the first game, the program revealed Monday afternoon, the Wolverines will take on Division II Northwood for an exhibition contest at Crisler Center Friday, Nov. 3. Time and television designations are to be announced.

The Northwood Timberwolves finished last season 2-26 overall and 2-18 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. They played Central Michigan in an exhibition and fell, 88-61. Michigan lost to the Chippewas, 63-61.

Michigan often plays Division II opponents before the season tips off. It did so last season against Ferris State (W, 88-75), in 2021-22 versus Wayne State (W, 87-54) and in 2019-20 against Saginaw Valley State (W, 82-51). Michigan did not play an exhibition game in the shortened 2020-21 campaign.
