The hosts began by discussing the debate between which is more likely — Michigan football making the CFP or the basketball program making a run to the Final Four next season.

“I voted Final Four,” Balas said. “And I know it’s easier to make the playoff now with the expanded, 12 teams and everything else. But with the uncertainty around Sherrone Moore’s status, and you’ve got a freshman quarterback. When’s the last time a freshman quarterback won 10 or 11 games? It’s really tough to do, especially when you’ve got questions on the offensive line and you’ve got questions at wide receiver, maybe a little bit of a question mark at cornerback — we’ll see how that plays out.

“And this team, man, from what we’ve been hearing about how loaded this Michigan basketball team is and what’s going on in these summer scrimmages, even without [sophomore forward] Morez Johnson [Jr.].

“I know everybody says you can get bounced in the first round or get bounced in the second weekend and so on and so forth, it’s really hard to make a Final Four — and it really is. Last year, we saw, what, three or four No. 1s, wasn’t it, make the Final Four? And I think Michigan’s gonna be up there, man. I think this team is extremely talented, extremely well-coached. So, I gave Michigan basketball the slight edge.”
