ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky breaks down tape from Michigan freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood’s season-opening performance in a 34-17 victory over New Mexico. He called Underwood the most impressive “unknown” QB in college football this past weekend. On a weekend in which a lot struggled, Underwood certainly did not.

Underwood completed 21 of his 31 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown. Outside of his 2 sacks, too, he didn’t run at all, and that’s in his arsenal, too.

College football analyst Aaron Taylor breaks down a goal line play for the Michigan offensive line, but especially with how the tight ends — namely Max Bredeson — helped make the play. And of course, he highlighted the way Underwood blocked for running back Justice Haynes to spring him.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore will take on his alma mater, Oklahoma, Saturday night in Norman. He’s the first U-M head coach to play his alma mater since Fielding H. Yost against West Virginia in 1904. The Wolverines won that one, 130-0.

Michigan junior safety Brandyn Hillman goes inside the play on his interception against New Mexico.

Quote Of The Day

“He’s tough, man. He’s good. He’s really good. The biggest thing is it’s got to be all hands on deck, all eyes on him. That’s the biggest thing. He’s got to be a focal point of what we do every single play. And I think when you do that and you have a group that understands that, good things happen.

“It’s a lot like when we went to go play Alabama with the quarterback that they had [Jalen Milroe]. It’s going to be a group effort. One guy can’t do it by himself, like you talk about different schemes and people doing different stuff to stop him, but you have to stop him within the framework. When you start inventing things, that’s when you get in trouble.

“So, we’re going to stop him within the framework of what we do. If everyone does their job, we’ll be successful, because there’s not a defense that we run that’s unsound, so it’ll be exciting for us.”
