ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan Wolverines football graduate EDGE TJ Guy and sophomore linebacker Cole Sullivan met with the media Tuesday evening after practice to preview Saturday’s game at Oklahoma. Watch video from their press conferences below.

Sophomore LB Cole Sullivan

Both Guy and Sullivan notched their first career interceptions during Michigan’s 34-17 win over New Mexico last Saturday. They discussed the plays.

“Plus field position for the guys, for the team,” Guy said of what was going through his head when the ball was in the air. “Easy position for [kicker Dominic] Zvada, give the offense a chance to score a touchdown. So, yeah, I was just excited for the team.

“I didn’t know how to act, for real. I’ve never touched the ball in a game, so that was cool. But yeah, I didn’t know how to act — I’m not going to lie.”

Sullivan did have a sack, too, and was asked which play he favors more.

“That’s a hard question,” Sullivan replied. “The pick, I was more just starstruck in the moment. But on the sack, I was a little more fired up afterwards. But they were both pretty fun.

“I was just so grateful, seeing how excited all of the guys were for me. And just really in general, how excited our guys were for each other that whole game — not just for me, but for everyone making plays — that was just great to see out of our team.”

Senior linebacker Jaishawn Barham was ejected for a targeting play in the third quarter, so Sullivan and others had to step up even more. Michigan will also be without Barham in the first half at Oklahoma, before he’s eligible to return in the second.

“First of all, that was an unfortunate call for him,” Sullivan said. “I feel bad, just because he’s one of our leaders, and I hate to see him come out of the game. But, of course, I had to mentally prepare myself, because I figured maybe I would probably be getting some more reps at the end.

“I was already pretty ready to go. I was already thinking about getting in the game.”
