Former Michigan Wolverines football All-American running back Blake Corum holds the U-M record with 61 career touchdowns, but he didn’t find the end zone until his 19th NFL game.

Corum plunged in from the 1-yard line to put the Los Angeles Rams up 33-16 in a 33-19 win over the Tennessee Titans.

The 5-foot-8, 210-pound Corum has been the backup to Kyren Williams since entering the league. This season, Williams has 35 carries to Corum’s 6 and 92 offensive snaps to the former Michigan star’s 28. Head coach Sean McVay said this week that Corum will continue to play a major role and even increase his workload this season.

“I think what you’re looking for is something around a 65/35 ratio for those guys,” McVay said. “I think you want Kyren playing about two-thirds of the time, and Blake playing the other third.”

In the win, Corum ran 5 times for 44 yards, with 2 rushes of 15 yards and 1 of 9 yards.

“He’s explosive,” McVay stated. “He’s a good football player, I have a lot of trust in him. And then we’ll continue to see that moving forward, so I thought that was good.”

Former Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, meanwhile, was quiet in a week one loss to the Green Bay Packers, logging only 1 quarterback pressure, but he showed out in a 52-21 blowout win over the Chicago Bears in the Detroit Lions’ home opener.

Hutchinson embraced the Ford Field crowed following his first sack since going down with a broken leg last October, and he had 5 pressures in all.

“I was very happy to get one,” Hutchinson said of his sack. “I felt the support from Ford Field. It was really one of those moments that you’re like, ‘I’m back.’ I feel like it’s just good to be with the team.”
