Key quotes from Michigan players Jaden Mangham, Andrew Sprague

Jaden Mangham
• On if Michigan is approaching this bye week as another ‘opportunity week’: “It’s definitely the same mentality. We know what we’re still playing for. We have a lot ahead of us. A lot of our goals are still ahead of us, so this is another opportunity week, just another week to continue to get better.”

• On Michigan beating his former school, Michigan State: “It feels great being able to win that. They can’t feel that bad. Luckily, I graduated from MSU, so somebody still has it for them.”

• On returning to play at Spartan Stadium for the first time as an opponent: “It was definitely crazy feeling that shift in environment from feeling friendly to now being hostile, but other than that, once the game started, it felt completely normal.”

Andrew Sprague
• On where Michigan’s offensive line is in its development: “I think the O-line has definitely improved a lot, as everyone can see, since the beginning of the year. I feel like since we’re so young, we’re going to keep getting better every week.”

• Having such a young offensive line: “To be honest, you don’t even really notice it, because we’re all in the same meetings, we all talk about the same things. It’s not like you notice it, but it’s been fun playing with my class, for sure.”

• On the biggest focus for himself and Michigan’s other second-year offensive linemen while redshirting last season: “Last year, honestly, we were more working on our bodies, trying to get bigger. We all came in a little underweight, and all just wanted to get bigger, stronger. We knew that this year we would be able to step out onto the field and fit in out there.”

• On if it’s fair to say Michigan’s offensive line is better at run blocking than pass protection right now: “Based on the film, you could probably say that. But I feel like it really just depends on the game, who we’re going against and what we do.”
