Newsstand: Michigan K Dominic Zvada on Lou Groza Award preseason watch list

Tweets Of The Day
Michigan senior kicker Dominic Zvada has been named to the watch list for the national kicker of the year award, the Lou Groza.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is entering his final year of college football following two at Arkansas State (2022-23) and one at Michigan in 2024.
The Bakken-Andersen Big Ten Kicker of the Year, Zvada was a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2024. He was also tabbed as first-team All-American by Sporting News and second team by the Associated Press.
Zvada drilled 21 of his 22 field goal attempts in 2024, with 7 made kicks from 50-plus yards — setting both single-season and program records. The previous record for 50-plus yarders in a season was 4.
The Chandler, Ariz., native didn’t just show off his great accuracy and big leg, but he was also clutch. He made a 54-yarder earlier in the game against Ohio State, before booting the 21-yard game-winner to break a 10-10 tie late in the fourth quarter.
“He brings an aura and a swagger to the room that we’re all very confident when we walk in there,” special teams coordinator J.B. Brown said this spring. “I love him, love the energy he brings and looking forward to keeping that going.”

Quote Of The Day
“I grew up in the South but always admired this program. It’s an honor to be here, because when you grow up where I did in the 1990s and latr 1980s, you couldn’t see every game — it wasn’t but three or four on the weekend — and I just always remember seeing Michigan from afar. Whether it was the Rose Bowl, playing ‘The Game’ [versus Ohio State], whatever it was, I always had a lot of admiration for the program.”
