Michigan K Dominic Zvada named preseason first-team All-American by Walter Camp

Michigan Wolverines football senior kicker Dominic Zvada was named a preseason first-team All-American by Walter Camp Football — the lone Wolverine to earn an appearance on any of the teams.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is entering his final year of college football following two at Arkansas State (2022-23) and one at Michigan in 2024.
The Bakken-Andersen Big Ten Kicker of the Year, Zvada was a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2024. He was also tabbed as first-team All-American by Sporting News and second team by the Associated Press.
Zvada drilled 21 of his 22 field goal attempts in 2024, with 7 made kicks from 50-plus yards — setting both single-season and program records. The previous record for 50-plus yarders in a season was 4.
The Chandler, Ariz., native didn’t just show off his great accuracy and big leg, but he was also clutch. He made a 54-yarder earlier in the game against Ohio State, before booting the 21-yard game-winner to break a 10-10 tie late in the fourth quarter.
“He brings an aura and a swagger to the room that we’re all very confident when we walk in there,” special teams coordinator J.B. Brown said this spring. “I love him, love the energy he brings and looking forward to keeping that going.”
Despite his incredible production, Zvada didn’t win — nor was he a finalist for — the Lou Groza Award for the nation’s best place kicker, which was handed out to Louisiana’s Kenneth Almendares. Not winning the award provided some motivation for Zvada heading into the 2025 campaign.

“I think that is part of the fuel to his fire,” Brown noted. “He wants to be the best version of himself that he can be. We’ll take any motivator that we can get with him, though.
“Excited to see him kick this year. He had a really good year last year, being 21-of-22, but we’re excited to see him continue to progress and try to be perfect.”
Zvada was stellar at Arkansas State, too. He went 17-of-18 on field goals as a freshman in 2022, and 17-of-22 as a sophomore in 2023. He made 2 of his 3 kicks of 50-plus yards as a member of the Red Wolves.
Zvada is exploring adding kickoff specialist duties this coming season.
“He’s been working, and he’s done a great job. I’m super excited to see what he does this fall,” Brown said.
There are question marks for every team going into any season, but Zvada’s ability isn’t one of them for Michigan this offseason.
