Cal Poly OL transfer Brady Norton commits to Michigan football

Michigan Wolverines football has scored a commitment out of the NCAA transfer portal. Cal Poly offensive lineman transfer Brady Norton has made his pledge Monday night.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder has three seasons of eligibility remaining after spending two at Cal Poly, redshirting in 2023 and starting in 2024. He’s appeared in 14 games with 11 starts.
Norton visited Michigan Monday, and the Wolverines sealed the deal quickly. The FCS standout also notched an offer from Ohio State. He’s the Wolverines’ fourth transfer commitment of the month, joining wide receiver Donaven McCulley (Indiana), safety TJ Metcalf (Arkansas) and cornerback Tevis Metcalf (Arkansas).
Norton is the No. 129 overall player and No. 12 interior offensive lineman in the transfer portal, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Norton started at left tackle all 11 games in which he played during the 2024 regular season, posting a 73.5 overall PFF grade and 90.6 pass-blocking rating, which ranked tops in the FCS. He allowed 3 pressures — never more than 1 in a single game — and no sacks.
He was named an FCS Central Freshman All-American, the only Big Sky freshman offensive lineman to receive the honor.
The Mustangs finished with a 3-8 record in 2024, going 2-6 in the Big Sky. Norton had the chance to play against one Power Four opponent in Stanford of the ACC. The Mustangs lost, 41-7, and Norton posted his lowest PFF rating of the season (50.5 overall). He registered a 37.5 mark in pass protection, giving up 1 pressure.

He appeared in three games as a freshman in 2023, preserving his redshirt. He played a combination of left tackle (46 snaps) and right tackle (21) that season.
The Mission Viejo (Calif.) High product was an unranked recruit in the 2023 class.
Michigan has a need to bring in talent along the offensive line. The Wolverines have lost four offensive linemen to the portal this month — Raheem Anderson, Andrew Gentry, Tristan Bounds and Dominick Giudice. In addition, the left side of the starting line will depart after the 2024 campaign, with fifth-year senior left tackle Myles Hinton and graduate left guard Josh Priebe running out of eligibility.
Michigan finished the 2024 regular season on a high note, beating arch rival Ohio State 13-10. Head coach Sherrone Moore expressed his desire to get better offensively, however, in his press conference last week.
“The toughness, the strain that we had in that game was outstanding, but I want to get bigger,” he said. “I want to get faster, I want to get stronger, more explosive on offense because I thought defensively we played as good as a game as you could against that team and so I want to do that and just continue to build as a team.
“That’s what it’s really all about, and there are a lot of talented individuals on our team, but being the best team possible is the only way you win, so I just want to continue to build our team and be the strongest team that we can be — and be the best team for Michigan.”
