The hosts began by talking about McCarthy’s potential landing spot in the draft, which is likely to come in the first round Thursday night.

“He’s going to the the highest drafted Michigan quarterback ever, is what’s gonna happen,” Broome predicted. “I assume it happens in those first 10 picks.

“The New England Patriots kind of hold the cards to everything here, because if they just sit at three and take Drake Maye, which a lot of people [believe they will] but a lot can change in the next 10 hours or so, as we’re recording this morning. It feels like the draft starts with that No. 3 pick. Someone’s either coming up for Drake Maye, New England’s taking Drake Maye. It seems like the buzz is that if someone’s going to move up for McCarthy, it’s probably more in that six to 10 range, which maybe makes him a little more attainable for a team like the Denver Broncos. The Raiders need a quarterback, as well. The Vikings secured that extra first round pick but might not have to use it, unless they go up for May.

“So it’s going to be interesting, and when it comes down to team fits, that’s the thing about these teams that have the first five, six, seven picks of this draft is that they’re not the most ideal situations to operate out of. I’m not crazy about the idea of McCarthy going to the Giants, only because I just feel like that media market will just not eat him alive — wherever he goes, I think he’ll be able to handle it. But a place like Minnesota, as much as it would pain our NFC North hearts to see him there, when you throw to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, that’s a hell of a start to your career with the infrastructure you have there. You have a former NFL quarterback as your head coach, the quarterbacks coach is Josh McCown. So somewhere like Minnesota or Denver feels like it works for him. I’d be worried about New England, just because Michigan man following in the steps of Tom Brady … it feels like they need a lot more than just a quarterback, so to me when it comes down to what his best fit is, I really do think it’s probably Minnesota or Denver.”
