Michigan comes into this game ranked No. 21 in the AP poll, and Nebraska is 0-27 in its last 27 tries against ranked opponents. The Cornhuskers have momentum in year three of the Matt Rhule era and looking for a big home victory.

“They’re searching for that marquee win,” Sayfie said. “They come in 3-0 — a 20-17 win over Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, 68-0 over Akron and 59-7 over Houston Christian, which I didn’t know was a football program until I watched some of that game the other night.”

“It’s actually a choir, but they needed an opponent, so they put them on the schedule,” Balas joked.

“Exactly,” Sayfie said. “But Matt Rhule is in year three of building that program, coming off of the disaster that was the Scott Frost era. And he’s done well in year three throughout his time as a head coach. 10-4 at Temple, 11-3 at Baylor. And he rebuilt a Baylor program from essentially nothing.

“So, they’re kind of hoping that they have similar fortunes here this year, but it’s a different beast in today’s Big Ten. This is their marquee home game of the season. They also host USC, but I mean, there are rumors about Bud Crawford, coming off of the Canelo Alvarez win in Vegas last weekend, leading the team out of the tunnel, and they’re honoring the 1995 national championship team. Perfect opportunity, if you’re Michigan, to walk into their trap, take over their trap.”

“This is a huge game for them, and that’s why I”m hesitant — and we’ll talk about this, I’m sure, in a few minutes, to predict Michigan to win there, just because they haven’t been good on the road under Sherrone Moore. This is a huge game for them, for Nebraska. I don’t think that Nebraska is a more talented team … if you go down their roster and look — at a few positions, I think, they’re stronger — but I think Michigan overall is a more talented football team with more athletes, so this is a game that Michigan could win. Will they win depends on how well they play.”
