The hosts began the show by discussing the stakes for the game — which are vastly different for each team. Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell is on the hot seat after a rough first two years and then a 2-2 start, while Michigan is seeking a 2-0 beginning to the Big Ten Conference season.

“Luke Fickell could get fired at the end of this season,” Sayfie said. “Michigan trying to stay undefeated in the Big Ten. Different teams in different situations right now.”

Balas mentioned that Wisconsin may have cleaned some things up after the bye.

“I don’t think you can count on all that stuff happening on Saturday, either, at The Big House — a field goal, punt blocked, bad snaps,” Balas said. “Those are things you clean up during a bye week and probably will be. So, it’s going to come down to blocking, tackling. They have a stout front, as Sherrone Moore said. Are they as good as people think they are, No. 1 in the country in rush defense? I think that’s an inflated stat based on the teams that they’ve played.

“But you can’t overlook anybody. This is going to be a tough game for Wisconsin, unless they get some breaks. If Michigan plays a clean game … this is the Wisconsin of old, where they send the band and play the Budweiser song. I don’t even know if they bring their band. I hope they do. They’re always a fun group. That used to be the best part of Wisconsin football in the late ’80s and early ’90s before Barry Alvarez got there. I’m guessing that’ll be the best part of the day for them this year as well.”
