“Thank you,” Balas said. “Thank you for reminding me. And each one takes about seven minutes off your life, like smoking cigarettes. Seven years! Yeah. So, I got about, we’ll see you guys next year at my funeral. I won’t, but you’ll see me.
But, regardless, it’s been unbelievably sad. It’s sad, it’s a bad day for Michigan again. Believe it or not, I just got off the phone with the great John Beilein. He’s going to be joining us on the podcast [soon].
“It’s a black eye for everybody involved in the program. The problem I had here is that I was telling you and Anthony about this last week about how things were kind of coming to a head, and it really came to a head yesterday morning, when somebody … I don’t want to say that Michigan’s investigation into Sherrone Moore, which started last week, when I was talking to people in the building and he had a meeting with the team and said, ‘Yes, I’m being investigated, but there’s nothing to it.’ I can’t tell you how many people in that room knew there was something to it, and that’s the problem here. If we knew — and we knew that things were coming to a head — and if the players knew, and I believe 100 percent they did, because we were getting calls from people and people’s parents like, hey, what’s going on at Michigan? What’s going on here? How do we know and everybody else know but some people and the higher ups at Michigan didn’t know? I’m not buying it. I don’t care who I offend anymore, because it’s unacceptable.”
