Newsstand: Michigan predicted to land 2027 three-star prospect

Tweets Of The Day
Michigan Wolverines football has gotten predictions from Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman and The Wolverine’s Ethan McDowell to land Southlake (Texas) Carroll three-star offensive lineman Tristan Dare, the No. 467 overall player in the 2027 class.
On3’s Ari Wasserman pens a column about the pressure — or lack thereof — freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood is facing in 2025. From Wasserman on On3:
So the question has to be asked: Is Underwood under any pressure this fall or is his freshman season a freeroll? There are two ways to look at it.
Viewpoint A: He’s just a freshman, and he’s going to make mistakes. While the future is bright, there is no reason to hurl the entire weight of the program on his shoulders. Let him develop, get comfortable and get back in 2026 ready to compete at the highest level.
Viewpoint B: Age doesn’t matter. Michigan football invested north of $10 million into his abilities and the expectation is that he’ll be a difference-maker right out of the gate. The bar isn’t to be better than the awful quarterback play a year ago. The bar is to be elite.
Which one are you? The answer to that — much like trying to figure out what Michigan is actually going to be in 2025 — varies. For instance, On3’s Pete Nakos left Underwood off his list of quarterbacks facing the most pressure this season. That’s what makes Michigan so compelling in 2025.

Quote Of The Day
“I’ve seen Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. That was my class. I’ve seen a lot of good football throwers, and I’ve been with Mike Penix at Indiana, obviously J.J. McCarthy here at Michigan. And I would say Bryce is at the top with the best of them, and probably throws it better than a lot of those guys — which is scary to say…”
