Sherrone Moore quotes

Moore on Michigan losing to USC, his initial thoughts: “I think they just played well. They executed at a high level. We didn’t execute all the times we needed to. They played really well. They executed the times they needed to.

“We didn’t tackle very well, but we’ve tackled a lot better, and that was not one of our best tackling performances. And those guys execute well at a really good plan and just too many opportunities, big plays, third down conversions … scoring in the beginning of the game and at half. So, we’ve just got to do a better job rallying those things.

“But credit to them, credit to their game plan. No excuses. We’ve got to continue to attack and get better.”

Moore on the touchdowns by USC early in both halves and how that affected Michigan mentally: “When it happened in the beginning, guys, they just kept going. The same thing in the second half. There wasn’t really any dullness or falling out of players just figuring out … our guys, the rest fought the whole game to the end. We’re always in a fight and we’re never going to stop playing and keep going. So, that’s just part of the game.”

If the game plan changed once junior running back Justice Haynes went out with injury, and what his status is: “The game plan was the same. We did the same things we were we were going to do with the game plan, and he’ll be okay. So, we’ll just see how he goes as we go through the week.

“Just something in his side and he came back out, was working through it, probably could have went. Extra cautious with our student athletes when anything happens to them, so I want to make sure they’re okay. But, the game plan was the same.”

Moore on USC’s defense shutting Michigan down: “There are execution things. They did a good job of rallying to the ball and tackling the ball. I felt like we had some momentum in the run game. It wasn’t the explosive, but there was the 5, the 6 yard runs, and I thought Bryce did a good job with some of the RPOs and things that we let on and he played with, and he did so. But I think they did a good job, and they made plays when they needed to. They got off the field on 3rd down, and then that’s the key.”
