Facts of the week

Michigan is 36-1 against teams from the MAC, with all 37 games coming at The Big House. The Wolverines have outscored opponents from the conference 1,355-360. The lone loss came Oct. 11, 2008, a 13-10 setback to Toledo, which had a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Associate head coach Biff Poggi, 66, will serve as the interim head coach during Sherrone Moore’s suspension for this game and next week’s tilt at Nebraska. Poggi, a multi-millionaire and former hedge fund manager, was the head coach of the Charlotte 49ers from 2023-24, posting a 6-16 record.

Quote of the week

“This game matters because it’s not just for us at this point. It’s for him. It’s a place that he coached at. It matters that much more because he’s not there. We know that it’s not going to feel right. So for us we have, I don’t want to say a fully angry mentality, but yeah, we’re not happy with it. We intend to have a moderately pissed off approach to this game.”
