According to Ryan Zuke of MLive, 38-year-old Michigan hockey coach Brandon Naurato — who led the Wolverines to the Frozen Four with an ‘interim’ in front of his title last season — has officially signed his new five-year contract in May.

“Naurato received a base salary of $300,000 last season as the interim coach but will earn $400,000 in base salary in the first year of his new deal, according to his employment agreement obtained by MLive through a public records request,” Zuke wrote.

“His salary will increase every year of the contract, up to $433,100 during the fifth year. The contract, which runs through April 30, 2028, was signed by Naurato and athletic director Warde Manuel on May 12.”

Michigan Wolverines basketball has two NBA Draft hopefuls heading into the June 22 event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and both will be in attendance. According to ESPN.com’s Jonathan Givony, Bufkin and Howard were both invited to take part in the draft from the green room. Seventeen others received invitations, making up the entire top-19 on ESPN.com’s top-100 prospects list.

Assuming Howard accepts and attends the draft, there’s a strong possibility Michigan head coach Juwan Howard will be representing the Wolverines in Brooklyn.

Both Bufkin and Howard are widely projected as first-round picks. The former, though, has a strong chance to be selected in the lottery (within the top 14 choices).

Bufkin went through measurements at the NBA Combine in May, but while he was invited, Howard did not participate in any capacity.

Juwan Howard, a 1994 first-round pick himself, has already sent four players to the NBA Draft, including a first-rounder in Franz Wagner, who went No. 8 overall to the Orlando Magic in 2021.

Quote Of The Day

“He brings energy and he always knows what he’s talking about. I can see why NFL teams want him. He showed a lot of energy to me and we had a great talk. It was a funny talk but a business talk as well.”
