Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore spoke for 10-plus minutes on the main stage, broadcast live by Big Ten Network, and another 45 minutes at a side podium. Players each spoke for 30 minutes in what was a full day.
“What a day, man,” Balas said. “Sherrone Moore seemed comfortable to me. Last year, he was fine. This year, he seemed like, OK, I’m the head coach at the university of Michigan. I know I have a good team. I know I’m recruiting extremely well.
“[Senior linebacker] Ernest Hausmann was unbelievably impressive. This kid is gonna be a captain, in my opinion, along with [graduate safety] Rod Moore. But all the guys were, and that’s what we’re used to when you have Michigan here. [Graduate fullback / tight end] Max Bredeson was talking about his low rating in the EA Sports College Football game, and I told him, don’t worry, we know you’re a lot better. Don’t worry, Michigan fans appreciate you.

“It was exciting hearing about the weight gains and the weight losses that some of the Michigan players made. Hearing them talk about [freshman quarterback] Bryce Underwood and his work ethic … this is really kinda the unofficial kickoff of football season, even though we have a month and a week — about five and a half weeks — before the actual kickoff. And it really felt like it.
“I really got the bug, even here in Vegas, where we are at the beautiful Mandalay Bay. It really had a Big Ten feel to it, so it was a lot of fun. I really had a good time.”
“Seventy nine is Max Bredeson’s overall rating in EA Sports College Football 26,” Sayfie chimed in. “I would agree it’s low.”
The Michigan podcast hosts discussed offense, defense and special teams — including position battles that Moore touched on — the mentality of the team and more. Check out the podcast in either video or audio version above.
