Newsstand: Blake Corum scores two TD in preseason win

Michigan Wolverines running back legend did not get a ton of run during his rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams, but that might change after a strong showing this preseason. The third round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Corum had a pair of touchdowns on 9 carries for 32 yards in his team’s 31-21 win over the Cowboys on Saturday.

The Rams’ official website said:
“Corum reached the endzone on carries of 2 and 4 yards at the end of Los Angeles’ first two offensive drives. It was a promising look at the second-year pro who was using sparingly as a rookie other than the Week 18 finale against the Seahawks, in which he suffered a season-ending fractured forearm. Corum’s playing time came entirely in the first half before the Rams turned the backfield over to rookie Jarquez Hunter in the second half.”
“The former Michigan star could help shoulder more of the load if the Rams want to keep Williams — their newly minted $23-million investment — fresh for the long haul.
While it was something of a surprise when coach Sean McVay said Corum would play in the preseason opener, Corum responded by rushing for 32 yards and two touchdowns in nine carries.
“He’s a stud,” quarterback Stetson Bennett said. “He runs hard, and we like to get good football players the ball and let them go work.”‘

Michigan quote of the day
“I saw Bourque live for the first time at the Under Armour camp in New Jersey, and I’ve long said he’s my favorite quarterback on Michigan’s 2027 recruiting board. I think he has an argument as the top quarterback in the country next cycle and should be a Top 50 prospect nationally. Bourque validated what I saw from him on film. The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder has filled out his frame and is very athletic around the pocket. But what really stands out about him is the way the ball pops out of his hand. Almost every throw at the camp was a perfect spiral. Bourque puts plenty of mustard on his passes and is accurate at every level. He’s polished and, while old for his grade (something that’s been a negative for me with Smigiel), has plenty of upside as well. Bourque checks all the boxes for me.”
