Newsstand: Former Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy — 'I know I'm ready to start' for Minnesota Vikings

Tweets Of The Day
Former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury after being picked No. 10 overall by the Minnesota Vikings. Now with Sam Darnold having moved to the Seattle Seahawks and McCarthy healthy, he’s trending toward being the team’s starter this fall. McCarthy held a press conference Tuesday and was asked if he “thinks” he’s ready to start.
“”I know I’m ready to start,” McCarthy said on Tuesday, according to the Vikings’ team website. “Because all of the work that I put in and just the confidence in my skills and abilities and being able to do my job and simplify things to the best of my ability every day. Just take it one day at a time, one play at a time and, you know, I have a tremendous coaching staff, a tremendous group of guys around me. I can lean on them, and they can lean on me.”
Michigan junior cornerback Jyaire Hill threw out the first pitch at the Chicago White Sox game Tuesday. The Sox lost to Milwaukee, 7-2.

Quote Of The Day
“What you communicate to the prospects in terms of how the process is going to go, how you showcase what life on your campus is going to be like when those kids arrive, when those kids enroll, that stuff needs to be genuine or else you may sign the kid now, but they’re either going to leave or they’re not going to be at their best when they’re a part of your team.”
