The Big Ten Conference named a pair of Michigan Wolverines standouts as its Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, respectively. Senior linebacker Jimmy Rolder and junior tailback Justice Haynes take home the weekly honors this week from the conference.

In the 31-20 rivalry win over the Michigan State Spartans, Rolder recorded a career-high 10 tackles (9 solo) with a fumble recovery, 2 tackles for loss, a sack and a pass defended. The fumble recovered came on the third snap of the game after junior defensive back Brandyn Hillman forced it out of the hands of MSU quarterback Aidan Chiles.

Rolder’s pass breakup came on a 4th down, and another stop came on a two-point conversion attempt.

Haynes rushed a career-high 26 times for 152 yards and had 2 touchdowns, also adding 3 receptions for 19 yards. It was his third multi-touchdown game of the season and first in the MSU series since 2020 (Blake Corum). Michigan ran for 276 yards as a team, the most against the Spartans since 1994.

The weekly honor is the first in the Big Ten for both players.

Michigan quote of the day

“I think both of them have the ability, as we’ve seen, to have the explosive plays. I think both of them can run you over, make you miss, do that. But I think Justice, we’ve just seen more of the 50-yard runs, 60-yard runs, where Jordan’s only had a couple of them. And Jordan’s really that thumper, that wears you down back, that moves the pile. Where Justice isn’t that as much, but they both have that ability. So the biggest difference is probably that Jordan’s more of that thumper guy, whereas Justice is the one cut. You know, he can bounce it outside and get that touchdown, or he can one cut and go for 50. But both of them, obviously, super successful in what they’ve been doing.”
