The Michigan Wolverines took a humbling 31-13 defeat at the hands of the USC Trojans on Saturday night that dropped their record to 4-2 on the season. But now is not the time for panic, says head coach Sherrone Moore.

There are opportunities ahead to right the ship and change the narrative, even after a loss that to many is tough to swallow.

“We got a lot of game left,” Moore said during his postgame press conference. “That was six games into the season. We got six more left, and there’s a lot out there. So we’re not talking about goals or what we need to do. Worry about tomorrow. When we land, what are we going to do to get better tomorrow? What are we going to do on Monday as we get back into the team? Sunday, they’re off, let their bodies recover, recuperate, and same thing, we’ve got to go attack it. The coaches have got to go attack it right now. So there was never any quit in our team, we’re going to continue to fight.”

Michigan’s next test comes in the form of a home date against Washington this Saturday. The game kicks off at noon on FOX as part of its Big Noon Saturday coverage that headlines its slate of games for the week. As of this posting, an official Vegas line has not been released.

Michigan and Washington have played twice the last two seasons. The Wolverines went out to Seattle last year and dropped a 27-17 game on the road, preceded by a 34-13 win over the Huskies in Houston to cap off a 15-0 season and a College Football Playoff National Championship to conclude the 2023 season.

Michigan quote of the day

“Just so much poise still, never rattled. Competitive spirit, competitive energy. Gave him more as the games went on, and gave him more in this game, and he continues to get better and better and better. So we got to continue to do that. He’ll mature, he’ll get better as we go.”
