The Michigan Wolverines lost the top-18 showdown on Saturday night with the Oklahoma Sooners and will fall in Sunday’s AP Poll rankings, which are released at 2 p.m. ET. But just how far might the 1-1 squad be when the new poll comes out?

On3’s Brett McMurphy has Michigan in the No. 20 spot of Sunday’s poll after revealing his ballot on Saturday night. Michigan is one of five teams ranked along with Ohio State (No. 1), Penn State (No. 4), Oregon (No. 7) and Illinois (No. 14).

Michigan is next in action on Saturday at noon against an in-state MAC opponent in the form of the Central Michigan Chippewas. CMU is 1-1 on the season after a Week 1 win over San Jose State and a 45-17 blowout loss on Saturday at Pittsburgh. Next weekend’s game kicks off at noon and will be broadcast via the Big Ten Network.

The following week will see them make a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore will serve a two-game suspension over the next two games, self-imposed by the university, as part of the sanctions from its advanced scouting saga with the NCAA. Moore will be allowed to coach the team this week in practice before being shelved at midnight on gameday. He can return at midnight the Sunday following the Nebraska game.

Michigan quote of the day

“I thought [head coach and defensive play-caller] Brent [Venables] did a really good job with just the looks. Just the things they did, wasn’t that it was just a whole bunch of tackles for loss and things like that. It was more just getting sputtered in certain spots and just had to create a little bit more rhythm. They just did a good job defensively. They’ve got guys that have played on that defense and understand the defense. We’ve just got to do a better job of combating that.”
