The drama has come to an end.

On300 defensive back Jyaire Hill pulled the trigger and signed with Michigan over fellow finalist Illinois. He also held offers from Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, Washington, Wisconsin and others.

Hill seesawed back and forth between Illinois and Michigan for the majority of the recruiting cycle. In the end, however, Hill felt most comfortable at Michigan.

“I like the coaches,” Hill said. “We’ve built a good connection. I like the stadium and the fans. The environment there is great.”

Hill’s decision comes after multiple fall visits, where he saw the Michigan defense dominate in The Big House. His final visit happened to be for the Wolverines’ dramatic win over Illinois.

Overall, Hill loves what Michigan did under first-year defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

“I’ve been impressed a lot,” Hill said. “I don’t even think they’ve gotten scored on in the second halves. It looks like both of their corners might be leaving. I know they have some four- and five-star corners. But I feel like I can secure a spot if I go there early.”

Michigan cornerbacks coach Steve Clinkscale led the way in Hill’s recruitment and played a big role in securing his pledge.

“Coach Clink is my guy,” Hill said. “He’s been cracking some jokes with me. He’s really cool with me and my dad. We have a really good bond.”

At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Hill is ranked as the No. 15 cornerback and No. 112 overall prospect nationally, per On3.

Hill has an On3 NIL Valuation of $17.9K with 9,100 combined followers on Instagram and Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Michigan now has 22 commits in its 2023 recruiting class — On300 cornerback Jyaire Hill, On300 offensive lineman Nathan Efobi, On300 offensive tackle Evan Link, On300 EDGE Enow Etta, consensus four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star running back Cole Cabana, four-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, three-star linebacker Hayden Moore, four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive linemen Brooks Bahr and Roderick Pierce, three-star running back Benjamin Hall, three-star EDGE Aymeric Koumba, three-star tight end Zack Marshall, three-star athlete Breeon Ishmail, three-star athletes Kendrick Bell and Jason Hewlett, three-star defensive backs Cameron Calhoun and D’Juan Waller and three-star kicker Adam Samaha.
