Podcast: Michigan football injury updates, Wake forest basketball preview, more

 The Michigan Wolverines are back on the football field this weekend in Chicago, taking on the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field and hopefully getting a few pieces back.

Michigan is taking on a Northwestern team that was competitive at USC before the game got away from them, and has been a scrappy team this year.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discuss Sherrone Moore’s Monday press conference and prep for Northwestern, Michigan hoops vs. Wake Forest at LCA and more.

“USC had to earn what they got on offense, especially early in that football game,” Balas said on the show. “With the fake punt and some third downs, they pulled away at the end, but Northwestern really played them tough. Let’s be honest, if that fumble doesn’t go through the end zone on the interception, they might be up at halftime in that game.

“So this will not be an easy game, but this is a game that if you’re Michigan, you have to win it. And they’re a 9.5-point favorite for a reason. I think that this is now the time. We look at the bye week last year when they came back and they beat Northwestern so handily after that second bye week. I expect Michigan to start its crescendo here and start to play its best ball. We have not seen this team play its best ball yet this year. I think that’s pretty clear. It’s time to go into that Ohio State game, where you put a couple of really good games together. See the offense start to click a little bit more and Bryce Underwood start making some, making some strides.
