Podcast: Michigan football questions heading into final stretch, basketball superlatives
Michigan Wolverines football sits at 7-2 heading into the bye week and the final three games of the 2025 regular season and is coming off of a 21-16 win over Purdue on Saturday night at home. But what is the outlook moving forward?
TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discuss Michigan’s win over Purdue, our outlook for the rest of the season, basketball superlatives and your questions.
”I always say win by one or more,” Sayfie said on the show. “And maybe have to print some t-shirts at some point. I also say a lot, ‘nothing weird.’ And when you fumble through the end zone and there’s a touchback, then it turns into a weird game, and it was even weird before that, but it’s a clunker of a game for Michigan. It’s also a third straight win, and as Andy Staples says ‘win your clunkers, kids,’ and you have to do that in college football. … For the most part, you have to win these games and when you already have two losses, you have to find a way to win regardless. And Michigan did that.
“I think the game looks a lot differently if you score twice in the red zone, but. Even then, it would still have been a ton of things that you need to clean up and figure out if you’re going to beat the better teams at the same time. Without the benefit of hindsight, we have to look at it that way. But let’s say they win the next three games and they’re in Indianapolis, or they’re in the College Football Playoff. Then no one really cares how it went. But in the moment, they look like a team that needs to get a hell of a lot better to compete with the Ohio States of the world. because that game is at the end and you can’t play the way you did on Saturday night.”
