The Michigan Wolverines fell to 1-1 over the weekend after a poor showing in a 24-13 loss at Oklahoma, which raised some red flags in terms of the team’s outlook this season.

But are they truly red flags, or was Saturday night’s road trip a blip on the radar? TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discussed the contest on Monday.

”It was 21-13 with the football in the fourth quarter,” Sayfie said on Monday night’s show. “Michigan could have come down and scored a touchdown and a point conversion to tie, but if he had hit that field goal earlier in the game, a touchdown would’ve given them the lead after everything that had happened in that game. It’s a credit to taking advantage of the mistakes from the Oklahoma interception and the muffed punt that Cole Sullivan jumped on. He’s a baller. He just goes and gets the football. Michigan didn’t turn it over themselves, but so much went wrong outside of just that. The offensive line, I think, was the number one thing that doomed Michigan in this game because they had no run game. Outside of the 75-yard run from Justice Haynes.

“They had no pass protection. I thought Bryce Underwood started the game off strong, but then there was this lull when the pass protection broke down and Oklahoma realized that Michigan wasn’t going to be able to protect. They could creep up and kind of just focus on stopping the run against an offensive line that wasn’t getting much push.

“And then the defense was obviously disappointing at times as well. The two-minute drive before half, the long 16-play drive at the end of the game, you didn’t have your timeouts at that point because you had to take two on offense. A bad punt leads to a short field. So there’s just so much that went wrong in this game. Very disappointing display from Michigan.”
