The Michigan Wolverines had an underwhelming 31-13 setback last weekend at USC and now host Washington, looking to improve to 5-2 on the season. With plenty of runway between now and the end of the regular season, Saturday is a pivot point for the season.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Clayton Sayfie and Chris Balas discuss the loss at USC, why this week is a major game for Sherrone Moore and the team, basketball’s spot in the AP Poll and your questions.

“I was thinking about kind of where Michigan’s at coming out of this game against USC,” Sayfie said on the show. “They’re not a nobody, they’re not a terrible team, but they’re not anywhere near the top of the Big Ten. They’re not anywhere near their preseason top-14 ranking. They’re not the No. 15 team in the country like they were coming into this past weekend’s game, and they got exposed quite a bit in this game.

“They’re not on the level of Indiana, Oregon, or Ohio State, or anywhere close to it. When you watch those games earlier on in the day, I’d say you’re probably looking at the sixth or seventh-best team in the Big Ten right now, and Washington might be in that same boat, so the winner of this weekend’s game could be there.

“That’s pretty disappointing, I think at this point. The good thing is you have an opportunity here to beat Washington at home. The schedule is fairly light, as light as it can get in the Big Ten, although Northwestern looks a little bit better than maybe we thought, but Penn State was just pretty much dead last weekend. So Michigan has some opportunities to stack some wins. But more importantly, you have to get a lot better between now and when you play Ohio State.”
