Michigan Wolverines football head coach Sherrone Moore is set to be suspended at some point this season as part of the ongoing NCAA saga coming out of the team’s sign-stealing investigation. Moore could potentially miss Weeks 3 and 4 of the upcoming season, along with a handful of other self-imposed penalties.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discuss the self-imposed suspension of Sherrone Moore in Weeks 3 and 4 of the 2025 season, where the saga goes from here, ramifications on the field and more.

”What we’ve been saying is basically what we’ve been saying for the last several months, that the penalty that the NCAA wants is a Sherrone Moore suspension at some point,” Balas said on Monday night. “And from what we’ve heard from several sources, extremely close to it, that it was initially a lot more. This has not been accepted by the NCAA yet as the final punishment or anything like that. But we’d heard initially maybe he gets a year, then it was maybe six games. So Michigan I think is looking right now at it as this is what we’re willing to accept.

“And it’s a two-game suspension. Does not wanna miss the Oklahoma game. That was made clear to us several weeks ago. He’s going back to Oklahoma, his alma mater. He really wants to coach in that game. So there were a couple of things in play here. They’re going in front of the committee on infractions on June 6th, I think it is. Would there be a ruling before September when they play Oklahoma? So they thought maybe it might come in the middle of September. So they said they’ll go games three and four. More than likely, it’s because Sherrone Moore doesn’t wanna miss that Oklahoma game and we’ll see if the NCAA even accepts that.”
